For the Fourth this year we’re going to be getting together for a barbecue with a big group of our friends. I signed up to bring a dessert and wasn’t sure up until last night what I was making. My sister Bekka suggested this Strawberry Pretzel Salad. Such a great choice! It’s light, a little sweet and a little salty. I posted this same recipe about a year ago… but it’s one of those recipes that is so good it needs to be posted again! Enjoy!
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
2 Cups Crushed Pretzels
3/4 Cup Butter, Melted
3 Tablespoons White Sugar
1 (8oz) Package Cream Cheese, softened
1 Cup White Sugar
1 (8 oz) Container Frozen Whipped Topping, thawed
2 (3 oz) Packages Strawberry Flavored Jell-O
2 Cups Boiling Water
2 (10 oz) Packages Frozen Strawberries
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Stir together crushed pretzels, melted butter and 3 tablepsoons sugar;
mix well and press mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Using a glass dish is the best so you can see all the pretty layers!
3. Bake 8-10 minutes, until set.
Set aside to cool.
4. In a large mixing bowl cream together cream cheese and 1 cup sugar.
Fold in whipped topping.
Spread mixture onto cooled crust.
5. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
Stir in still frozen strawberries and allow to set briefly.
When mixture is about the consistency of egg whites,
pour and spread over cream cheese layer.
Refrigerate until set.
