Four more sleeps until Christmas! And boy are we ready for it! I feel like we have celebrated, soaked up, slowed down for and done everything else in between for this Christmas season. It has been my favorite Christmas time to date. I think it’s been a mix of our kids are at such a fun age and also the feeling of being so incredibly grateful for all we have this year. And not material things, but rather for our health and the blessings of the five little lives in our home.
It’s been a little quiet on the blog front over the past few weeks. My evenings have been spent watching Hallmark movies with Travis, reading books that have been on my list for ages and finishing up Cash’s stocking. Taking it SLOW and soaking it up has definitely been the theme of December 🙂
A little glimpse at what has been happening over here the past few weeks…..
*** Normally our presents go under the tree. But Cash is at the age where he tries to rip into them any chance he can get. Our school area has become the package station for the past few weeks.
*** A few weeks ago it was SO. COLD here! Our outdoor time was swapped out for some good ol’ fashioned jumping on the bed 🙂
*** My precious sister Bekka came over one afternoon this week and wrapped ALL of my presents and stocking stuffers. She has such a servants heart… THANK YOU Bekka!
*** One of my favorite Christmas traditions are our hand embroidered stockings. My Grandma began this tradition with her kids and my mom carried that tradition on. And now the tradition has been carried on one more generation to my own babies. They’re definitely a labor of love! My Mom has helped me with all of them but Emma’s since the kids were all born so close to each other. By the time we finished one it seemed like it was time to start the next 🙂 I’ve had several of you ask about how to start these type of stockings. Here are several examples of the kits that we have used! This is Emma’s and this is Cash’s.
*** Cash got his Christmas present early this year since we are going to be out of town for Christmas. It was a bit of a hefty gift to take along. These blocks have been SUCH a gift for him (and the other kids love them too!). You can get them here and there is still plenty of time left to get them before Christmas!
*** One of our favorite traditions as a family is to take evening Christmas light drives 🙂
*** There is nothing that I love more than beautiful music during the holidays. My sister, Emma and I went to the Dallas Symphony for our fourth year in a row. It’s always such a treat!
*** One of our Sunday morning pictures. I love having these to document the year!
*** Our very own Elf on the Shelf!
***Emma has always been a reader. I love that this year she has challenged herself to pick up some bigger books. This one and this one have been her favorites so far!
*** My little outdoorsman Cade in his element 🙂
*** One morning I gave Eloise a big stack of cookie cutters to “wash”. She spent a good hour washing and rinsing them. Such a fun little activity for those little hands!
*** Afternoons are my time to “work” on the blog and Rodan+Fields. I’ve also been working one something that I’m excited to share in January!
*** Afternoons are here are naptimes for the little kids and “quiet time” for the big kids. This snap circuit set has been a favorite lately! My mom got it for Colt for his birthday this past year and it has provided HOURS of educational entertainment for them!
