Now that it’s officially December we have been trying to soak up every BIT of the holidays we can. We started our Advent calendar yesterday and I love how much joy it brings each morning. I keep our Advent calendar super simple. We have a little tree with 25 doors. Each day behind each door there is a verse we read as well as an activity. The activities range from cookie baking, Christmas dance party, playing with our nativity scene, Christmas movie night, etc.
I love that each day it brings the conversation back to Christ and what it must have been like to come to earth for US. With the kids getting older the conversations have become deeper in years past. I love hearing their thoughts on what it must have been like many years ago when Jesus came to earth as a baby.
Typically on Fridays we don’t do school. We stick to a four day school week and Fridays are for catching up on housework or field trips. Since we were home today I decided we would take advantage of the quiet afternoon and get ahead on a few subjects. It was such a sweet afternoon. The babies napped, the big kids sipped hot cider while doing their work and I was able to catch up on some light housework. For all the hard days that homeschooling can bring, there are equally as many sweet ones like today. Days where it makes all the frustrations worth it.
And…. I haven’t forgotten my Friday Favorites! Here are a few things that I have been loving this week!
+ My friend Liz told me about this album. We have been playing it on repeat through the week. It is so incredibly worshipful and helps to prepare your heart for the Christmas season. Such beautiful music!
+ Tomorrow morning the girls and I are going to start a little holiday baking. We’re going to start with our FAVORITE holiday coffee cake! I grew up with my mom making this every Christmas. So tasty!
+ This show is back on. And I can not get enough of it.. like everyone else haha! Did you watch it this week!?
+ I have been on the hunt for a good lip balm/gloss for a LONG time and always come up short. Pretty sure the hunt is over. I’ve been using this for a month and it’s amazing! Not cakey or goopy. Just the right amount of moisture and color.
What have you been loving this week!?
