Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joe

It’s no secret that Philly Cheesesteaks are a popular dish, but what about when you turn them into Sloppy Joes? This recipe takes all of the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak and turns it into a messy, but delicious, sandwich. The best part is that it’s easy to make and only requires a handful of ingredients.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small red onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 6 Brioche Hamburger Buns

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet, add the ground beef, diced red onion and diced green bell pepper. Cook until the ground beef is browned and the onions and peppers are cooked through.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the beef broth and cornstarch together.
  • Add the beef broth/cornstarch mixture to the meat along with the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  • Cook on a medium setting until the meat mixture has thickened up slightly (around 3-5 minutes).
  • Once the meat mixture has thickened, take it off the heat and set aside.
  • Butter both sides of the brioche hamburger buns. Place them on a griddle or a hot skillet and toast the buttered sides until golden brown.
  • Place a heaping spoonful of the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom of a toasted bun. Then place a slice of the provolone cheese on top.
  • Assemble the bottoms of all 6 sandwiches this way and place them onto a baking sheet. Pop them under the oven broiler for a minute or until the cheese has melted.
  • Place the top of the bun on top of each sandwich and serve!
