Instant Pot Chicken and Noodles

Soup season is one of my favorite seasons. The endless opportunities just make me so happy to try out all sorts of different recipes. This Instant Pot Chicken and Noodle recipe is quickly becoming one of my favorite recipes to make due to the fact that it is extremely easy in the Instant Pot and tastes so delicious!
If you don’t use your Instant Pot very often, this is the perfect opportunity to whip it out and get used to using it!
This recipe has a creamy broth and is a hearty meal that your whole family will love. Some of my favorite things about this recipe is that it is a budget friendly meal, an easy recipe and helps me get food on the dinner table quickly.
What Is An Instant Pot?
If you’re wondering, this is the Instant Pot that I have. I try to use it a couple times a week since it is a total dish saver and time saver in general!

Ingredients Needed:
- Chicken Stock: you can use a canned chicken stock or your own homemade chicken stock
- Cream of Chicken Soup: using a cream soup gives the Chicken and Noodles a delicious flavor and creamy sauce. You could also use cream of mushroom soup.
- Butter: I prefer using a salted butter. Using unsalted butter also works.
- Chicken Breasts (fresh or frozen): cooking your chicken breasts in the electric pressure cooker (Instant Pot) will result in tender chicken and an easy meal.
- Frozen egg noodles OR dry egg noodles: I love using thick egg noodles, but a thinner egg noodle or wide egg noodles are also great options.
How to make Instant Pot Chicken and Noodles
Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the Instant Pot.
Pour the chicken stock and cream of chicken soup over the chicken breast. Then place the stick of butter on top.
Put the lid on the Instant Pot and manually set the time to 15 minutes (use the manual button). Make sure the Instant Pot lid is in the sealed position.
Let the Instant Pot naturally release the pressure (usually another 15 minutes).
Take the chicken breasts out of the liquid and shred.
Return the chicken back into the broth along with the bag of frozen noodles (or you can use uncooked egg noodles).
Place the lid back on the Instant Pot.
Manually set the time for 4 minutes.
Once the 4 minutes is up, quick release the pressure.
Dinner is served!
How Can I Adjust the Recipe?
This recipe could easily be adapted to add in vegetables or different spices. The great thing about chicken and noodles in the Instant Pot is that you can make it your own!
- Add in a cup of sour cream or heavy cream to make a creamy chicken dish.
- To make this recipe into an instant pot chicken noodle soup, simply add in 3 more cups of chicken broth.
- To change the flavor a bit, add in a teaspoon of garlic powder, a teaspoon of onion powder, a shake of black pepper and a teaspoon of poultry seasoning.
- Stir in a cup of shredded cheese once the Chicken and Noodles is done. It makes a delicious Instant Pot Cheesy Chicken!
How to Thicken the Chicken and Noodes?
If you prefer a thicker Chicken and Noodles, simply take out a cup of the liquid. Stir 2 teaspoons of corn starch into the cup of liquid until it’s mixed in well. Then slowly incorporate it back into the batch of Chicken and Noodles. Cook it on low (the saute setting) for 5 minutes and you’ll have a thicker sauce.
Can I Cook This on the Stove?
You can easily make chicken and noodles on the stove instead of your Instant Pot, just be sure that you cook your chicken to a safe temperature and ensure it is fully cooked.
Can I Make This in My Crockpot?
This recipe can easily be made to cook in your crockpot all day. If you want to prep it the night before and turn it on in the morning before work, you totally can! Come home to the wafting smell of chicken and noodles ready for you to eat!
Can I Freeze Instant Pot Chicken and Noodles?
Yes! Just allow your soup to cool slightly before putting it into an airtight container and freeze!

- 4 Cups Chicken Stock
- 2 cans cream of chicken soup
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 pound chicken breasts fresh or frozen
- 1 package frozen egg noodles OR 1 package of dry egg noodles
Instructions
- Place the chicken in the bottom of the Instant Pot.
- Pour the chicken stock and cream of chicken soup over the chicken.
- Place the stick of butter on top. No need to stir anything.
- Put the lid on the Instant Pot and manually set the time to 15 minutes.
- Let the Instant Pot naturally release the pressure (usually another 15 minutes).
- Take the chicken breasts out of the liquid and shred.
- Return the chicken back into the broth along with the bag of frozen noodles.
- Stir well and place the lid back on the Instant Pot.
- Manually set the time for 4 minutes.
- Once the 4 minutes is up, quick release the pressure.
- Dinner is served!
